GV II


Detached house. c1902/3 by Sidney Barnsley. Coursed rubble
stone with Cotswold stone-slate roof and 3 large stone stacks. L-
plan with canted west end with gable wing projecting to north.
Twin projecting gables to rear at east end and 3 gables to front.
Far right gable is larger than other two and has oval "owl hole"
and was not part of Sidney Barnsley's original design. 4 windows
on first floor, 2 and 3-light leaded casements, all with timber
lintels. On ground floor 3-light on left of doorway with original
door under deep cambered timber lintel. On right, one late C20
single light, 2 original 2-light and one added 3-light, all with
large cambered timber lintels. On west side, inserted door and
loggia with 2 round stone piers of later C20.
Interior: Main room to left of door has many original features
including beamed ceiling, large finely tooled stone fireplace,
window seats, doors and latches etc. All original brick
fireplaces still existing upstairs, and doors, window seats etc.,
elsewhere on ground floor.
