GV II


Large house. C17 with late C18 front to The Green. Incised render,
Cotswold stone slate roof in double range, 2 ashlar gable stacks to
front range, renewed to left. Single range with additional rear
wing projecting on one side. 3 storeys, with moulded cornice and
blocking course. 6 windows, 12-pane sashes, to 1st and 2nd floors.
Ground floor has 5 similar but longer, stone porch right of centre
with 2 pilasters and 2 columns in Doric with bases, plain pediment,
6-panel door in plain reveal. Rear facade of coursed rubble, 2
storey to left and 3-storey projecting wing to right, adjoining
East Barton (q.v.) with which it forms a group. Stables have been
converted to houses in late C20 and are no longer of listable
quality.
