Large house in terrace. 1703 on deeds, largely rebuilt in early
C19. Rendered front with parapet, slate roof, brick stack to left.
Single range, originally with 3 gables to street. 3 storeys. 3
windows, plate glass sashes in painted stone frames, to first and
second floors. C19 shop front across whole of ground floor framed
by panelled and fluted pilasters. Coat of arms of Gastrell family
to left of centre above shop front, a C20 copy of version in
churchyard of Church of St. Mary (q.v.).
Interior retains many original beams and has remains of timber
framed partition wall on 2nd floor. Very fine stick baluster
central staircase in quadrant shape with ramped handrail. Large
stone flag cellar with chamfered stone piers supporting ceiling and
possibly pre-dating 1703 house.
