4/23 JAPANESE Summer-house
Batsford Park Arboretum
II
Summer-house. Late C19. Built for Lord Redesdale. Flemish bond
brick, Roman tile roof. Square single room plan with portico at
front and sides. Symmetrical facade. Single storey. 2-windowed; 2-
light wooden casements with glazing bars flanking part glazed
panelled door with boards painted with Chinese characters to either
side. Almost pyramidal roof with curving bronze fish finial
probably of JAPANESE origin.
Interior not inspected.
