BOURTON-ON-THE-HILL MAIN STREET
10/52 Former stables, Bourton House
Former stables, formerly 2 cottages semi-detached, now house. Late
C16, but substantially rebuilt early C20. Built under patronage of
Richard Palmer. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, limestone
slate roof with limestone gable coping and ashlar stacks.
Rectangular plan. 2 storeys. 4-windowed: 3-light stone-mullioned
casements with stopped hoods some with leaded panes some with C20
metal casements. Single light to first floor far right. Flat-
chamfered square-headed porch with C20 part-glazed door off centre
left. Right corner cut away to incorporate ball finial. Mounting
block attached to right-hand corner. Sundial with painted numerals
affixed to right gable end. Slightly stepped gable coping and
roll-cross saddles. 2 axial stacks right and left of gable ends.
