4.6.52 barns immediately west of school)
Two former animal shelters and small barn between, now converted to
dwelling and workshops. Mid/late C18. Rubble stone, stone slate
roof except for small lean-to in concrete tiles to east. L-plan
with small barn in north-west angle, single storey with partial
attics. South facing rear wall of animal shelter on north side has
inserted doorway with quoins and 3 windows, all of 1980s, and 2
gabled dormers. All windows wooden casements. North facing wall
had originally 5 bays separated by dressed stone piers, 2 of these
now replaced by concrete blocks, and all bays filled in with wooden
panelling and windows. Two gabled dormers also on this side.
Animal shelter at south end originally of 5 bays with dressed stone
piers, now filled in with panelling and windows and used as
workshops. Link wall and roof between this and small 2 bay barn of
rubble stone with restored roof. South end wall of shelter has
inserted C19 glazed single lancet with moulded stone arch. All
originally part of a farm complex which included Tallett Steps
(q.v.) and Aubreys's Barn (q.v.) and barn to north (q.v.), now all
