1/58 Pair of gatepiers with gate and
adjoining coped wall at south-west
corner of Barnsley Park estate

GV II

Pair of gatepiers, with gate, and adjoining curve coped wall.
Mid/late C19. Ashlar gatepiers, square, on bases, with elaborately
moulded cornices and pyramidal caps with carved corners. About
2.5m - 3m total height, with single large wooden gate between with
decorative turned woodwork. Coursed and dressed store coped wall
on each side, sweeping down in curve to about lm in height then
curving forward on both sides for about 7m before sweeping up again
to join plain ashlar piers with pyramidal caps, attached to rubble
perimeter estate wall. See also A433 (north side) for gates and
