and adjoining curved stone wall at
main north entrance to Hatherop
Castle School

GV II

Gatepiers and iron gates between, and adjoining curved wall ending
in piers joining rest of perimeter wall. Mid Cl9. Wall in
ashlar with moulded coping and small plain end piers, about 1.5m
high, curving in on both sides for about 17m towards main
gatepiers, wall stepping up twice on right-hand side to match
gradient of road from plain end pier about 1.70m high. Main
gatepiers square, with moulded cornice and stone ball finial, about
2.5m total height. Pair of wrought iron gates with spearhead
railings curving down to centre with large letters H and C, one on
each gate.
