SU 19 NW KEMPSFORD -

7/83 Furzey Hill Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Possibly 1708, with late C18 or early C19 additions.
Coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins, stone slate
roof with coped verges and kneelers, and ashlar end stacks with
moulded cornices and offsets. Single original range of 2 storeys
and attic with contemporary wing to right of single storey and
attic and 2-storey rear extension. South front has 5 windows, 2-
light stone mullion and transoms in plain stone frames, 4 similar
below with plat band above. Central C20 glazed door with quoins,
and fanlight over. Central small hipped dormer with paired wooden
casements. Small range to right has 3-light wood casement and
gabled dormer cutting eaves above and single storey hipped
additional wing. Rear extension of late C18 or early C19 with
slate roof and some 12-pane sashes to west. Early C20 single
storey corridor added to back of main block with studded front door
under flat stone hood on console brackets and 3-light stone mullion
to right. (V.C.H., Glos. Vol VII).
