8/82 Dudgrove Farmhouse


Farmhouse. Late C17, possibly 1692. Coursed rubble with cemented
south front, alternating quoins, hipped stone slate roof with 2
central stone ridge stacks. Main house of L-plan with originally
barn now part of house extending on north-west corner, forming a U-
shape with small brick infill block with separate pyramidal roof in
well of U. 2 storeys and attic. Main front to south, 3 windows,
16-pane sashes in plain stone surrounds, windows renewed in 1960s.
Two similar on ground floor with central doorcase with half-glazed
door in plain stone surround and with added C19 decorative ironwork
porch with swept roof. Two small gabled dormers with paired
casements. Subsidiary front to east has similar arrangement, with
flat stone hood on brackets over 4 flush panel door with decorative
rectangular fanlight. No dormers to east front.
Interior: several chamfered and stopped beams in ground floor
rooms. Tunnel behind south front door carries masonry of central
ridge stack above. Former barn adjoining on north-west corner of 2
storeys with scattered fenestration, mostly with timber lintels,
