8/113 Church of St. Anne


Anglican chapel of ease. 1863/4 by G.E.Street. Random coursed
rubble-stone, tile roof. Nave with south porch, small transepts
and apsidal chancel. Nave of 2 bays with 2-light lancets and
quatrefoil over, west end has central stepped buttress with
flanking trefoil head lancets and large sexfoil over. Lead-
covered spiral roof bellcote at east end. Steeply gabled openwork
timber porch on south side with 2 pairs of trefoil head arches to
each side. Chancel has conical sprocketed roof, 3 trefoil head
single lancets. On the interior the windows are all set in deep
splayed reveals, the 2 west lancets having steeply downward sloping
flush sills. 4-bay nave rafter roof with braced collar beams;
apse has 7 ribs and painted ceiling. Transepts have oqee openwork
timber screens.
