DOWDESWELL,
Allington House

(Formerly listed as Heylens Farm)

GV II

Detached farmhouse. Mid C19. Coursed squared and dressed
limestone, stone slate roof, stone stacks. Cross-shaped plan with
single storey C19 lean-to at right gable end. 1½ storeys.
Symmetrical facade with central - gable. Central four-panel front
door within segmental-pointed surround. Single light above door.
Two 2-light stone-mullioned casements left and right. Flat-
chamfered gable-end coping with roll-cross saddles. Trefoil finial
at apex of central gable. Triple axial stack at rear, C20 stack at
north-east corner of main body. Exterior largely as built. Forms
a picturesque group with barn (q.v.) at corner of crossroads.
