boundary to churchyard
GV II

Gates, railings and wall forming boundary to churchyard of the
Church of St. Michael. Cast iron gates, railings set into dwarf
coursed squared and dressed limestone wall, short coursed squared
and dressed limestone wall on north-west side of churchyard.
Gates and railings C19. Erected by the Rogers family. Wall C17-
Cl8. Railings set into coped dwarf wall with buttresses on
churchyard side of wall to carry cast iron braces to standards with
urn finials at 2.5m intervals. Single gate with heraldic shield
of the Rogers family with motto 'VIGILA ET ORA' on east side of
churchyard. Double gates with single gate adjoining at north-west
corner formerly also with Rogers family heraldic shield (now
missing). Stone wall with pyramidal capping runs away south from
double gates for c25m.
