SP 01 NW DOWDESWELL UPPER DOWDESWELL VILLAGE

Four cottages, semi-detached. Early C17 (in two phases). Large
blocks coursed squared and dressed limestone, concrete tile roof,
ashlar stacks repaired in brick and artificial stone stack.
Rectangular main body with almost contemporary extension at right
angles rear left. Main body 2 storeys and attic lit by three C20
two-light roof dormers. Three-windowed facade all C20 two-light
casements. Diamond-leaded panes to windows of No.4 (far right).
Three C19 plank doors with C20 open-sided, gabled porches.
Hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned window with stopped hood to ground
floor of left gable-end. C17 door surround with segmental-headed
stone lintel, left (now blocked) with C20 two-light wood casement
inserted. Ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned window with stopped hood
to first floor. One and 2-light double-chamfered, stone-mullioned
cases to extension at rear, one with hollow-moulded chamfers.
Axial and gable-end stacks. Slightly stepped gable-end coping with
cross saddle.
Interiors not inspected.
