SP 01 NW DOWDESWELL UPPER DOWDESWELL VILLAGE

5/48 School House
GV II

Former school house, abutting row of cottages. Probably built 1843
(date on neighbouring school). Coursed squared and dressed
limestone, concrete tile roof. Rectangular main body with gable
projecting forwards slightly on left. 1½ storeys, 3-windowed
facade. Two full dormers right of forward facing gable. Upper
floor lit by 2-light stone-mullioned windows. C20 glazed front
door off-centre right. Stopped hoods over windows and door. Flat
gable coping with roll-cross saddles to gable-ends and dormers.
Interior not inspected.
