2/71 Barn c40m east of Coln Farm
(formerly listed with
23.1.52 Lower Farmhouse)

Detached barn. C18. Coursed squared and dressed limestone,
corrugated asbestos and iron roofing. Rectangular plan with
projecting gabled porch on north side, part of formerly larger
building now partly demolished and reroofed with corrugated-iron
projects forwards right of projecting porch. C20 artificial stone
lean-to left of porch and two similar lean-tos at rear not of
special interest. Projecting canopy over double doors in south
wall. Triangular ventilation holes inside and end walls. Pitching
window towards apex of east gable end. Flat gable end coping with
roll-cross saddles.
Interior; sunken floor level at west end of barn with shoulder
height floor. Three-bay roof with original collar and tie beam
trusses. Inscription, now partly obscured by electric light
switch, stating something on the lines of 'Work not on the Lord's
day' within projecting porch.
