SP 02 SW WHITTINGTON -

2/120 Whalley Farm
GV II

Detached farmhouse. C17, C18 and early C20. C17 and C18 parts
coursed squared and dressed limestone, C19 part rock-faced
limestone, stone slate roof. Rectangular plan to C17 core with
central projecting back stair. 'T'-shaped C18 extension to left
gable end, early C20 extension in angle created between C17 and C18
parts. C20 lean-to conservatory at forward facing gable end of C18
part and not of special interest. C17 part; 2 storeys and attic
lit by C20 garret light. Single bay of former facade visible right
of C20 extension with 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned
casements to ground and first floors, stopped hood over ground
floor window. C20 door with glazing bars within 'Tudor'-arched
surround within C20 lean-to porch left. Early C20 extension, 16
storeys. Upper floor lit by half dormers, all windows 12-pane
sashes with horns. C18 extension; 2 storeys and attic lit by 2
roof dormers with hung tile. Two and three-light stone-mullioned
casements to ground and first floors. Flat gable end coping to C18
part and right gable end of C17 part, gable end stacks, one with
moulded capping. Interior not inspected.
