2/3 Thames and Severn Canal walls between
Tarlton Bridge and Sapperton Canal
Tunnel, south entrance
Stretch of disused Thames and Severn Canal running between Tarlton
Bridge and south entrance of Sapperton Canal Tunnel (about 370m).
c1789, restored late C20. Engineer Robert Whitworth. Restored curved canal
walls, render over brick and stone, including passing place near tunnel entrance.
Canal has been cleared and has low level of water in it at time of
survey (May 1985). Known as Kings Reach following a visit by George III in
July 1788.
