8/47 The Old Forge
II
Detached house and adjoining former forge. Early C18. Rubble
stone, stone slate roof, 4 stone stacks. Single range with former
forge forming L-shape at north end, 2 storeys with single small
attic light in gable end. Main front to west has 5 windows, two 3-
light casements to left, two 3-light with central single light to
right on main part of house. All with timber lintels. Ground
floor has double fully glazed doors to left, two 3-light to right
with central projecting gabled porch of C19, half stone and half-
glazed with moulded framing, double half-glazed doors in arch
entrance. Rear of main house has single-storey slate-roofed lean-
to of late C19.
