8/55 Barn and adjoining animal shelter
at Ewen House
GV II
Barn converted to garage and store and adjoining small former
animal shelter. Probably mid C18. Random coursed rubble stone,
corrugated iron roof to barn, stone slate roof to animal shelter.
Barn of 7 bays with mostly original timberwork in collar and tie
beam trusses and 2 trenched purlins. Two central opposed flush
entries with large timber lintels boarded across barn on both sides
to form throughway affording access to rear of house. On south
side, new openings to right with large timber lintel and projecting
stone slate roof on struts, with small door on far right. Animal
shelter to left with large timber lintel supported by tapering
single stone square pillar forming 2 bays, both of which have
timber loose boxes inserted at back.
