8/179 Barton Farmhouse

GV II
Farmhouse. Mid/late C19. Coursed and dressed rubble stone with
flush quoins, stone slate roof, ashlar end stacks to right and
large double-flued ridge stack, both with offset. Long 3-window
main range with rear wing, 2-storey; 3 gables to south, each with
long 2-light stone mullion casements with flush quoin surround and
square hoodmould. All casements with glazing bars. Similar 3-
light below and large gabled porch between bays 2 and 3 from left,
with flush stone Tudor archway, and similar shaped vertical
battened plank door to rear. A well preserved example of estate
farmhouse building, adjacent to School House (q.v.).
