GV II
School house. Mid C19. Coursed and dressed rubble stone, stone
slate roof with coped verges, stone ridge stack with offset and 3
tall polygonal flues with moulded cap. Single small range with
small rear projecting gable, single storey and attic. East front
has 2 small gables with single-light iron casements in recessed
stone frames. Ground floor has 2-light stone mullion with square
hoodmould and relieving arch below each. Large gabled porch to
left with 4-centred archway and plank door. Projecting canted bay
on left hand return with 2-light stone mullion above. A good
picturesque building, adjacent to Barton Farmhouse (q.v.), not
altered externally.
