east aisle buttress in churchyard
of Church of St. Mary

GV II

Bale tomb: Joseph Whitford 1722; and six headstones of mid/late
C18, in row of 8 to south east, last 2 not of special interest.
Limestone. Spiral bale top in 2 sections, with shell ends and
skull to east, leaf ball to west. Moulded capping on plain base.
Plain ends. South side slightly fielded with flanking strips with
recessed high relief of cherub heads and ball flowers beneath.
North side has slightly fielded centre and wider flanking strips.
Top breaking up on west section. Two headstones have high relief
cartouche with cherub's head; one very large with low relief
cartouche, one has additional stone touching to rear.
