GV II

Outer and inner pairs of gatepiers on perimeter wall to east of
Down Ampney House (q.v.). Probably late C18. Both pairs
identical, inner pair approximately 4m high, outer pair
approximately 3m high. Square, ashlar on base with moulded top
edge, rising to very wide moulded cornice with stepped square cap
surmounted by large ball finial. Single wrought-iron gates between
inner and outer pair on both sides, double matching gates between
inner pair, all with trefoil-heads to each railing.
