GV II*

C1700 house retaining as service wing and C17 cottage, the former masked to road by mid-
C19 extension. Coursed rubble, squared to later parts, and Cotswold stone roofs,
with weathered coping to later parts. 3 chimneys, 2 in ashlar. 2 storeys and
attics. The road front is in 2 parts. Right hand (older) part has a band over
ground floor and one range of mullioned windows, 2-light on 1st floor, 3-light
with drip on ground floor; gabled dormer with old metal casements; the chimney
has moulded capping. Left hand (mid-C19) part is L-plan with gabled porch in
angle; 1:1 windows, glazing bar sashes with flat raised surrounds flush panelled
door; 2 window return to east with a cast iron porch. Single storey out-house
to right. The c.1700 house is best seen from the garden (south) side. 2 gabled
dormers with old leaded casements; 2 windows, mullion and transom type and a tall
stair window with 2 transoms, a local vernacular feature. Segment headed cellar
windows to east with single mullions. Interior: original (c.1700 staircase with
turned balusters and slightly later looking panelled string. The C17 wing has a
plain collar-truss roof structure. Vaulted cellar.
