Former school and school house, now 2 houses semi-detached. c1870
for Harman Grisewood. Coursed squared and dressed limestone and
sandstone, ashlar quoins, limestone stacks. School house (right)
'T' shaped. School attached left also 'T' shaped. Tudor-Gothic
style. School house 2 storeys, school formerly one storey now
two. Gable-end of school house projects forwards right, gable-end
of school projects forwards left with single-storey porch set back
at right angles on left. Ground floor of gable ends at front lit
by canted bay windows with 'Tudor'-arched lights with horizontal
glazing bars. Parapet with pierced trefoil decoration over right-
hand window. 2-light stone-mullioned casement with 'Tudor'-arched
lights and stopped hood above. 3-light C20 stone-mullioned
casement with glazing bars and stopped hood over left-hand bay,
round-headed niche above. Single light window with 'Tudor'-arched
head to porch left. C19 plank door with decorative hinges within
'Tudor'-arched surround with carved spandrels and stopped hood.
Access to former school house through gable-end of porch. Moulded
saddleback gable coping with pointed cusping and finials at apexes
of both principal gables at front.
