9/85 The Old Smithy
GV II
Detached house. Late C17-early C18 and C20. Stone, initialled and
dated TP/1726 reused in C20 extension. Coursed squared and dressed
limestone, stone slate roof, ashlar stacks. Rectangular plan with
C20 extension right gable-end. 2 storeys and attic lit by two 2-
light roof dormers with horizontal glazing bars, 3-windowed facade
lit by 2 and 3-light double-chamfered, stone-mullioned casements
mostly with leaded panes. Stopped hoods to ground floor windows.
Central C19 plank door with thumb latch and gabled canopy supported
on wooden brackets. C20 two-light metal casement with frosted
glass above door. Single storey C20 lean-to extension. Flat
gable-end coping and gable-end stacks.
Interior not inspected.
