8/124 Stables, Banks Fee
Stable block. c1870. Ashlar tower, coursed squared and dressed
limestone otherwise, slate roof, ashlar chimneys, wooden lantern.
Rectangular entrance block with wider 'U' shaped courtyard attached
at rear. 2 stage tower with single storey stables either side.
Central double plank door at base of tower within segmental-headed
surround with keystone. Imposts continued as band right band right
and left. Two 2-light flat-chamfered stone-mullioned casements
with leaded panes to upper floor of tower. Band below windows.
Similar windows flanking tower. Scratch sundial facing stable yard
with inscription /Labitur et Labetur/. Segmental headed openings
to stabling and two later double width entrances from yard.
Pyramidal roof to entrance tower with wooden clock lantern with
leaded roof and weather vane. Stacks from eaves to either side.
Hipped roof to stable block.
