3/22 Lodge Farmhouse
Barn enlarged to former farmhouse, now private detached house.
Barn probably of early C18, enlarged on south west in late C18 and
again in late C19. North east front of barn in random coursed
rubble stone, remainder in roughcast or render, with restored
rubble stone coach house adjoining on south west corner, stone
slate roof, stone and rendered end stacks to late C18 range.
Double range, with 2 storeys. Barn originally symmetrical with
stepped diagonal buttresses still existing to each corner, central
slightly projecting stepped gable with large pointed arch now
filled in with one 3-light casement and timber lintel to each
floor, square stone hoodmould to ground floor window on each side,
3-light casement to left, and 3-light trefoil headed stone window
without mullions to right. This and other stone elements thought
to come from ruins of Horsley Priory, scattered inserted
fenestration above. Rear string course visible inside later wing.
C19 or C20 fenestration to remainder, and C20 linking wing with
Interior has some chamfered beams and scored stone cheeks to large
fireplace surrounded by infill at time of survey (March 1986).
