stable and animal shelters
II

Field barn with adjoining stable with loft, and animal shelters to
each side. Probably early C19. Random coursed rubble stone, stone
slate roof with double Roman tiles to animal shelters. Barn has
opposed central hipped cart entries with timber lintels, and double
timber doors still to west side. Yard side to east has flanking
catslide lean-tos with small plank door and 2 slit vents to each.
South gable end has 4-bay open animal shelter with hipped corner to
east and square piers of brick and stone. Five bays to barn,
collar and tie beam trusses with queen post struts from tie beam to
principals, slit vents to gable ends and west side. Stable to
north of barn has flight of 12 stone steps (dilapidated at time of
survey, March 1986) to gabled loft door immediately on right of
barn towards yard and recessed plank door and square opening to
right. Eight-bay animal shelter turns corner to east forming L-
plan, with square rubble stone piers.
