3/81 Lower End Farm

Semi-detached farmhouse. Mid C17 extended and altered C19. Main
body limestone rubble with some hung slate at rear. C19 extension
coursed squared and dressed limestone. Concrete tile roofing, to
main body. Slate roofing to single storey C19 extension. Ashlar
stacks. 'L'-shaped plan to C17 main body. Successive C19
extensions at rear facing farmyard. Flat-roofed porch at rear not
of special interest. Main body; 2 storeys and attic. Garden
front. Gabled cross wing projects forwards left. Two and 3-light
C20 wood casements with glazing bars. C19 single light casement
with glazing bars lower right. C19 part-glazed door right of
projecting gable. Two-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned
casement above. Three or four-light hollow-moulded stone-mullioned
casement with transom and stopped hood right (partly obscured by
creeper). Small outbuilding with plank door set back left of
projecting gable. Three-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned
casement with transom and leaded panes in rear wall of main body.
Two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement above. l½
storey C19 extension with gabled half dormer runs forward right.
Three-light casement lighting dormer. Similar casement within
segmental-headed surround below. Two-light casement with glazing
bars left of flat-roofed porch. C20 part-glazed door to single-
storey extension to gable end. Three-light casement within
segmental-headed surround right. Gable-end, axial and lateral
stacks to main body.
Interior; tie beams with deep flat-chamfers and moulded stops.
Incomplete interior inspection.
