Large detached farmhouse. Mid C17 and C19. Coursed roughly
squared limestone, dressed quoins. Artificial stone slate roof,
C20 dressed stone stack. Rectangular lobby entrance plan to main
body with projecting porch at front and stairs projection at rear,
successive C19 extensions rear left. Symmetrical, 3-storey, 3-bay,
2-windowed facade. Central, 2-storey projecting porch. Four-light
hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods
flanking porch. Similar three-light stone-mullioned casements to
first floor. Two-light stone-mullioned casements to second floor
without hoods. C20 plank door within a flat-chamfered surround at
front of porch. Two-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned
casement above. C20 single light casements in porch returns.
Steps down to cellar right of porch. C20 two-light casement and
two 3-light stone-mullioned casements in left gable end. C20
hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casements at rear of main body.
Blocked pigeon holes and projecting landing below eaves at rear.
C20 glazed door to right gable end of main body. C19 extensions;
2 storeys and attic lit by C20 roof dormer and 1 1/2 storeys, both
parts lit by C20 two-light wooden casements.
Interior; unusual C17 moulded stone fire surround with upward
projecting 'lugs', moulded stone mantel shelf. Fireplace with
stone surround in an upstairs room not inspected; limited interior
inspection. (Property of the National Trust).
