9/203 The Estate Office,
Sherborne House

Former stable block converted into an estate office. Late C16,
rebuilt C17-early C18. Coursed squared and dressed limestone.
Stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. Rectangular plan to main
body. C20 flat-roofed garage at left gable end not of special
interest. South front; 2-storey, formerly symmetrical 2:1:1:2
windowed facade with round-headed archway at centre. Windows of
far right-hand bay now blocked. Large fixed 12-pane window to
ground floor right of archway. Two-light casements within double-
chamfered surrounds to first floor far left. Single 2-light
casements with glazing bars at same level either side of archway.
Two similar casements to ground floor, one with concrete lintel.
Plank door far left. Band between floors. Central archway now
blocked with fixed casement and part-glazed doorway at bottom and
double doors and pigeon holes in timber cladding above. Two 2-
light stone-mullioned casements (now blocked) with carved spandrels
and 4-centred arched heads in left gable end with band above.
Blocked doorway and ventilation slits in rear wall. Gable-end and
axial ashlar stacks. Flat coping at left gable end. Interior
not inspected.
