Pair of estate cottages. Early C19. Coursed squared and dressed
limestone. One original C19 stack, two other stacks restored C20.
Rectangular plan to main body. Symmetrical facade to each
cottage. l½ storeys. Four half dormers to first floor with 2-
light stone-mullioned casements. Four 2-light stone-mullioned
casements with stopped hoods to ground floor. C20 part-glazed
door to No 53. C20 plank door to No 54. Both doors with flat
canopies with moulded margins, supported by moulded brackets.
Gable-end and axial stacks set on plinths. Flat coping at gable
ends and to dormers. Interiors not inspected. Coursed squared
and dressed limestone walls, c2m in height, at right angles to
gable ends, linking No 53 to No 50 and No 54 to boundary wall on
north side of street (q.v.). (No 53, property of the National
Trust).
