Miller's house and adjoining mill. Mid C17-early C18. House;
coursed squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roof with
ashlar stacks (restored C20). Mill; coursed and roughly squared
limestone. Rectangular plan to house with later lean-to at rear,
mill building at right gable end. House is stepped down slope to
River Windrush. Two storeys and attic. Three-windowed facade with
2 and 3-light steel casements. Five-light hollow-chamfered stone-
mullioned casement with stopped hood lower right. Two-light stone-
mullioned casement with stopped hood above, C20 plank door with
flat stone canopy supported on moulded stone brackets over door.
Attic lit by roof dormer on rear roof pitch. Flat coping at gable
ends. Gable-end and axial stacks. Mill building to right; 1½
storeys with C20 dormer from eaves. Stable door below within
surround with run-out stops just below level of lintel. Two
buttresses with offsets to right of door. Small plank door to
right within surround with lintel set at an angle. C20 two-light
casement above. Two blocked stone-mullioned casements and one C20
two-light casement in rear wall of mill building.
Interior of house; spine beam with deep flat chamfers. Mill
retains wooden undershot mill wheel. Millstones, hoppers, etc.,
still present. All milling machinery in need of some repair at
time of resurvey (February 1986). Limited interior inspection of
house and mill.
