Two adjoining barns and stableblock. Late C18-mid C19. Coursed
squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roof. Barn parallel to
the main village street; rectangular in plan with a projecting
porch on the north side. Small lean-to extension front right,
further lean-to extension at the right gable end. Second barn now
linked at right angles to the former, rear right. Stableblock at
the left gable end of the former barn. The whole range now forming
an 'L'-shaped plan. Stableblock; single-storey with stable doors
and 12-pane fixed casements with glazing bars. Barn to right of
the stableblock; fixed 12-pane casement set within the blocking of
a single width doorway towards the left gable end. Small double
doorway with an almost flat segmental head off-centre left.
Ventilation slits. Barn at right angles rear right with double
plank doors off-centre left. Similar doorway in the wall opposite.
Extra threshing floor with double doorways to the linking section
between the two barns.
Interior of the barn parallel to the village street; 6 bays
basically retaining the original collar and tie beam trusses with
halved apexes, double butt purlins and carpenters' marks (some
timber replaced C20). Barn at rear; 4 bays with the original roof
trusses with tie-beams, two trusses retain raking struts in
addition. Similar truss within the linking section between the two
barns.
