Little Barrington Village
11/84 Sundial Cottage
Detached cottage. Late C17-early C18 with successive later C18 and
C20 extensions at rear. Coursed squared and dressed limestone.
Stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. Rectangular main body with
successive later C18 extensions at right angles at rear whch
combine to form an 'L'-shaped plan. Main body; 1 1/2 storeys with
gablet off-centre right lit by a small 2-light double-chamfered
stone-mullioned casement with small leaded panes. Sundial in the
form of a rectangular stone block on a moulded corbel above. C20
three-light stone-mullioned window to the ground floor below.
Blocked doorway to the left of the latter. Two-light double-
chamfered stone-mullioned casement to the left of the blocked door.
Four-pane wooden casement to the left half of the window, fixed
leaded panes to the right-hand side. Two-light C20 stone-mullioned
casement to the right gable end. Small gable with 2-light stone-
mullioned casement to the upper successive extensions at rear. One
2 storeys and attic, one of 1 1/2 storeys. Both extensions with early
2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements mostly with
rectangular leaded panes, one with diamond leaded panes. Two C19
plank doors one within a raised segmental headed surround one with
a timber lintel. Reconstituted stone-mullioned windows to the C20
extension. Gable end stacks with cappings and skirtings. Interior
