11/91 The Malt House
(formerly listed as
23.1.52 The Old Malt House)
House in row, formerly a malthouse. C18. Ashlar with a slate roof
with a stone ridge and a single ashlar stack. Rectangular plan.
Two-storey, two-windowed facade lit by C20 two and three-light
stone-mullioned casements set slightly proud of the facade. C20
plank door off-centre right. Flat stone canopy supported on
moulded brackets above door. Single-light, fixed casement within a
flat-chamfered surround to the right of the door. The stone-
mullioned casements to the left of the door appear to have been
inserted within a larger opening. Flat coping and ball finial at
the right gable end.
Interior; malting kiln remains in situ. Bull's-eye window reused
from gable end of No 75 (q.v.) over stairs. Included mainly for
group value.
