10/37 Barn, Manor Farm Buildings

II

Barn, dated and initialled 'E/1861' over the main doorway on the
west side. Rectangular plan with an 'L'-shaped range of shelter
sheds on the east. Limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins;
artificial stone slate roof. West side: double doors off-centre
right; pitching window upper left; stone steps up to plank door
to loft, left. Doors to all three openings on runners with stone
shuttered ledges acting as hoods above each; shuttered segmental-
headed opening to the left of the stone steps at ground floor
level. Single-width segmental-headed doorway with plank door on
runners and segmental-headed pitching window to the north gable
end. Blocked owl hole at the south gable end with carved figure of
owl above. East front: double doors on runners off-centre left.
Stone ledge acting as hood and as landing to a single row of pigeon
holes above door; segmental-headed window upper right.
Ventilation slits in the east and west sides. Shelter sheds:
timber uprights dividing each bay; padstones now clad in concrete.
Barn interior: collar and tie beam roof trusses.
