Woodlands Farm

GV II

Barn and adjoining stable. Barn C18 with stable added slightly
later. Coursed squared and dressed limestone; stone slate roof to
the east facing roof pitch; corrugated asbestos roofing at rear.
Rectangular plan to barn with projecting porch on the east; stable
block extension to the south gable end. C20 lean-to stables at
rear not of special interest. Barn with central projecting porch.
Former double-width doorway to porch now blocked with limestone
rubble with a single width doorway. Triangular arrangement of
pigeon holes towards the apex of the porch gable. Single-width
plank doorway to the left-hand return of porch. Double plank doors
opposite in rear wall. Stable: single storey with loft. Central
stable door to the left of a flight of stone steps up to plank door
with gablet. Probably C20 raking buttress to the south gable end.
Barn interior: 5 bays with scissor-braced roof trusses either side
of the entrance bay, all other trusses with collar and tie beams;
double purlins.
