Farmhouse. Mid C18 with later extensions. Coursed squared and
dressed limestone, stone slate roof with ashlar stacks.
Rectangular main body with lean-to to the left gable end, later
extension to main body rear right 2 storeys, attic and cellar;
later extension: 2 storeys with C20 lean-to porch and single-
storey wash house extension to the gable end. Symmetrical 3-
windowed garden front lit with 3-light segmental-headed casements
with horizontal glazing bars to the ground and first floors; twin
gablets lit by 2-light segmental-headed casements to the attic.
C20 glazed door with glazing bars within a segmental-headed
surround under mid C19 open-sided porch with curved and hipped
canopy and geometric wrought iron decoration. Two-light
segmental-headed casement in the left gable end to attic. Two and
3-light segmental-headed windows to the extension at the rear.
C20 three-light casement to the wash house with a plank door to the
right. Flat coping to gables. Gable-end stacks.
Interior: flag floors; fireplace with dressed stone surround in
the wash house with a bread oven with cast iron door (made by the
Dale Co.,); washing copper to the left of the bread oven. Once
known as Newman's Farm. Building undergoing alteration at the time
of resurvey (November 1986).
