14/128 The Old Rectory

Former vicarage. Built 1810 for Revd. William Price by Pace of
Lechlade incorporating parts of an earlier building. Mostly
rendered; slate roof with cream-coloured brick stacks. Basically
rectangular plan to C19 part with possibly earlier wing on the
north. Two storeys. Symmetrical 3-windowed garden front with
two, formerly three, 20-pane sashes to the ground floor; 12-pane
sashes to the first floor. Similar fenestration to the right-hand
return. Narrow dressed limestone band between the ground and the
first floors to the garden front and right-hand return. C20
single-light and 2-light casements to the service wing set back to
right. Roadside front. C20 three-light stone-mullioned casements
to the ground floor of the service wing; 12-pane sashes to the
first floor. Unrendered flat-roofed entrance hall and porch to the
roadside front with a C19 six-panel door with decorative panelling
flanked by two single-light windows. Hipped roof with central
stack to the main body; axial stack to the service wing.
Interior: fine original geometrical stair with stick balusters and
wreathed handrail. Original reeded architraves to doorways.
