Inn and adjoining stable block (now partly converted). Late C18,
extended C19. Painted limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins;
stone slate roof to main body; slate roof to the former stable
block; brick stacks to both parts. 'L'-shaped plan to main body
with stable block at the south with an extension at right angles to
rear. Main body: 2 storeys and attic. Stable block: 2 storeys.
Two-windowed facade to the main body: 2 and 3-light wooden
casements with horizontal glazing bars and dressed stone lintels
with keystones to the ground floor: similar 2-light hipped roof
dormers one with leaded panes, one with glazing bars. Six-panel
door with the upper two panels glazed within a gabled stone-built
porch immediately to the right of the main body. Early hanging
hexagonal lantern with wrought iron decoration at the centre of the
facade at first floor level. Stable block with 2-light wooden
casements (some with flat-arched heads to the ground floor). Four
2-light casements and two C20 three-light half dormers to the first
floor. Three plank doors one within the blocking of a formerly
larger entrance. Gable-end stack to main body; single axial stack
and gable-end stack to stable block.
Interior: open fireplace with carved bressumer within the main
body; beams with ogee stops; moulded beam (possibly reused) to
extension to rear.
