6/254 Unidentified monument in the church-
yard of the Church of St Peter c5.5m
south of the south aisle


Chest tomb with lyre-shaped ends immediately south of the east-west
churchyard path. Late C17. Limestone. Partially legible
inscription panels on the north and south sides. Rectangular
inscription panels with moulded margins on the north and south;
hanging drapery either side of the inscription panel on the north
side; foliate decoration to the sides of the lyre-shaped ends.
The inscription panel on the south side is flanked by two figures:
death represented by skeleton on the right and a winged figure of
time holding an hourglass and a scythe to the left. Large oval
inscription panel at the east end with cherub's head at the top.
Small cartouche-like panel at the west end with a cherub's head at
the top and fruit and flowers below. Thick capping with moulded
