The Old Chapel
SO 8505 5/226
Early Cl9. Former Congregational Chapel. Neo-Norman style. Hammerdressed stone.
Hipped slate roof. 2 storeys. Machicolated parapet in centre flanked by 2 coped
gables. Centre has 3 ranges of round-arched windows with hoodmoulds. Flanking
bays have 1 round-arched window each on lst floor and 1 round-arched door each,
with 2 collonettes in each jamb (very finely detailed capitals) taking elaborate
moulded intrados. 1 storey flanking bays, both gabled, with 1 range each of
round-arched windows.
Nos29,30 and 31 form a group with the Old Chapel.
