Description

ST 79 NE CAM CHURCH ROAD
4/11 (north side)

No 40
(Church Cottage)

II

Dwelling. C1840. Possibly by Thomas Folljames. Coursed limestone rubble with flush
quoins, concrete plain tile roof; some rough-cast work to plinth and south gable, two
ashlar gable stacks. A T-plan Gothick cottage. Two storeys, one-windowed gables, and
wing, left, as from return to Hopton Road, various one or 2-light chamfered stone
surround and mullion casements, with pointed or segmental heads, some with drips,
large late C20 dormer on north roof slope, modern lean-to porch and door in re-entrant
angle, approached from Church Road.

A characteristic piece of C19 Cotswold 'Tudor', in a key position at the junction of
Church Road with Hopton Road and Springhill, and largely in original state at time of
survey.
