Description

SO 70 SW SLIMBRIDGE ST JOHN'S ROAD
1/89 (west side)
30.6.61
Whitehall Farmhouse

II

Dwelling, formerly farmhouse. Possibly C16, upper floor probably a C19 rebuilding.
Painted squared stone or brick, concrete tile roof, but pantile on C19 parallel
range. North front two storeys, 2-windowed first floor, 2-light casements to wood
lintols; ground floor one small 2-light casement and one 4-light casement, both to
wood lintols. At left end studded plank door, possibly C17, under stone four centred
chamfered head.

Interior very much altered, but C17 or older stone cheeks to main fire opening at west
end of ground floor, heavy beams with pyramid stoop to chamfers, main room ground
floor, front. Staircase probably originally in north-east corner, adjacent to main
door. Some stripped C18 shutters. Property formerly called The Priory.
