Coldharbour Farmhouse

II


Farmhouse, now dwelling. C17 and C18. Coursed and squared limestone, stone slate
roof, but concrete tile on some inner slopes. Complex built-up, with principal hipped
block to west, and two deep wings to east, forming U-plan with secondary entrance in
centre of the U, and primary entrance on north side. Two storeys. North front, two
ashlar stacks with moulded caps, and skirts set to saddle back roofs taken back to
main slopes. Two large sashes with glazing bars, set high in wall, and each side of
off-centre door, left, 6-panel, of which 4 glazed, with stone hood on brackets, and
over this well-cut date stone 'H.A.M. 1751'. Also set low extreme left and right,
2-light casements with glazing bars. Return front, right, facing south, 1+3 windowed:
left to lare sash with glazing bars under stone lintol with dropped ends and keystone,
small dormer over, with sash and bars, then, right 3 sashes with bars, under 2-light
casements, the first of which has Gothick glazing bar pattern. Between these two
parts panelled door.
