Large detached dwelling. Early C17 and early C19. Older block in squared and coursed
stone with stone slate roof, later block ashlar to moulded cornice at secret gutter,
hipped Welsh slate roof. Property in two distinct units, the C17, to left, gabled,
central stack at ridge, lobby entry, C19, to right, slightly brought forward from
earlier work, but continuously attached at 'party' wall, symmetrical, with entrance
opposite stair well projecting as hexagonal full-height bay, including arched sash
with glazing bars. Gabled block, two storeys, attics, part cellar, irregular
fenestration: at ground floor three sashes with glazing bars, first floor, three
sashes with glazing bars and one very small rectangular 2-light casement in stone,
over door and tight to eaves; to gables, 2-light double chamfer stone mullioned
casement under stopped drips. Central plank door in broad frame under wood lintol,
and, to right, blocked opening. Built 1612 by Thomas Dauncey, clothier. Later block,
two storeys, 5-windowed, large close set sashes with glazing bars, central 6-panel
door in Doric portico with flat entablature.

Interior: older block, includes C18 panelled room ground floor, left, with fluted
Doric fire surround and triglyph over-mantel, painted pine panelling, dentil cornice;
to entrance lobby heavy 4-panelled door on strap hinges; C18 built-in cupboard first
floor, left, and heavy stopped chamfered beams. Segmental projection at back,
opposite stack, blocked window, set low, two saddle bars: this possibly a stair-well
originally. To C19 block, fine stone semi-circular open well stair with stick
balusters and mahogany handrail.
