Detached dwelling. C17. Squared and coursed limestone, stone slate roofs. T-plan
with two steep gables to street, cross gables and deep gabled back wing with double
diagonal stone stacks with moulded cappings.

Street front two storeys, attics and roof spaces ventilated by small stone elliptical
oculi in each gable; 2-windowed, 3-light double-chamfer mullioned under continuous
drip mould returned short distance to gables either end at ground and first floors,
and 2-light double-chamfered mullioned under stopped drips, second floor. Central
6-panel door in broad splayed surround and flat stone hood on decorative consoles.
Gable, left, as front, but no continuous drip mould, and ground floor was 2 sashes
with glazing bars; left of main gable small two-storey gable with saddle stone and
ball finial, 2-light casements. To right return gable, two small lights under stopped
drips, and two blocked openings, the same.

Interior: newel stair through two flors flanking main stack to right; lower flight
reputed to conceal stone treads. Wide plank and batten door to upper flight. At
ground and first floors beams with quirked hollow moulds run to stops. Roof structure
mainly original, with feet of rafters at valleys taken to flat timber corbel piece set
on haunched posts built in to walls. Main fire surround, ground floor right, four
centred arch formed in one large stone and set to plain stone cheeks, all with simple
chamfer. Walls generally 650 mm to 700 mm thick. This property, a former clothier's
house, was also until 1917, the 'White Hart'.
